About Me
Having graduated from the University of Exeter in 2014 with a degree in English Literature, I went on to work briefly as a technical writer and then as a full-time journalist writing for lifestyle magazines in Dubai, UAE. Over nearly half a decade I wrote for both the print and online iterations of five different titles, covering a wealth of topics including health and well being, art and design, property and investment, hospitality, food and culture. During this time I was lucky enough to travel extensively for my work, including visiting London to write about upmarket real estate, Milan to cover the Salone del Mobile and Paris to review five-star hotels.
In 2016 I became the web editor of three individual titles under Gulf News’ publishing umbrella, covering parenting, interiors and women’s lifestyle. Here I used multiple content management systems to generate daily content, managed a digital strategy informed by data from analytics, operated multiple brand social media accounts and oversaw the migration and overhaul of entire title websites. In 2019 I returned to the UK and began working as a freelance journalist, a ghostwriter of commercial fiction and a copywriter for commercial brands.
Since 2017 I’ve also been recognised by a number of publications and institutions for my fiction, poetry and prose writing; please visit the Awards page for more information. An active member of Dubai’s literary community, I became a regular contributor to DubaiEye’s Talking of Books radio show in 2018 and you can hear some of my appearances discussing writing and literature on their podcast here, here and here.
